To prevent the drawers falling apart, strengthen the joints and make them look pretty I made walnut dowels. I needed 80 (!) of them. You start with small square sticks that are tapped or drilled through a hole in a metal plate with the required diameter. Because the diameter is only 4 mm I ended up destroying more dowels than I could complete. At the end I spent a whole day to finish this fun task.

Making the drawers, 4 in total. I used a simple rebate to locate the drawer sides to the front and back. The joint will be strengthened with walnut dowels.

The legs are turned. I managed to increase my productivity to 1 leg/hour! Quite a therapeutic exercise… It should all come together next week. Fingers crossed!

A patient tutor + 2 hours + 19 clamps + 8 hands + a bit of luck = my console table is taking shape! The carcase is glued up, all joints came together nicely and it’s all squareish. What a relief…

My latest design, a further development of my Antler Chair and offcut project. I thought I could make something useful with the left over ash and cork. Et voilĂ , here is the Antler Stool! The clue is, that it doesn’t need any glue nor screws, the construction is held together solely by the cork seat and can be taken appart when needed. Fingers crossed it will convince the judges!

I cut and planed most of the timber, 1” handsome English Elm, and started to make the carcase. And I start to understand what they mean by “Elm is difficult to work with…”, “Elm is a terrible timber…” All good fun! (;

A rather traditional looking wall cabinet, part of a small batch production exercise, made of solid oak and finished to the highest standards. It features a smooth running drawer and two removable shelves. The drawer bottom and back panel are made of bright red acrylic for a modern twist. It’s for sale. Perfect for bathroom or corridor. Contact me if you like it!

At last I’m happy with the mock-up and the arrangement of the willow. Pushing the sticks through from below till they interlock is a simple, low tech solution which makes it possible to replace them without spending hours. This was one of the criteria to simplify transport and allow for customisation. The height of the screen can be adjusted simply by changing the number of sticks per bundle.

My first commission - A repair order for a wooden sword!
Client: Emile, 6 years old
Brief: Make it stronger and better
I used robust 12 mm plywood to replace the original blade and some red paint dragon blood for the dramatic effect.
Comments from client: Awesome!

My final project for this year is a storage piece. I want to create a freestanding console table which also functions as a room divider and could be placed between dining and lounge area of an open space living room.
